Agricultural Model Inter-comparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP)

The Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP) is a distributed climate-scenario simulation exercise for historical model intercomparison and future climate change conditions with participation of multiple crop and world agricultural trade modeling groups around the world (Fig. 1). The goals of AgMIP are to improve substantially the characterization of risk of hunger and world food security due to climate change and to enhance adaptation capacity in both developing and developed countries.

In January 16020 2012 AgMIP held its first Regional Workshop for Sub-Saharan Africa in Kenya, and in February 20-24 it held its first South Asia Regional Workshop at ICRISAT in Hyderabad, India. Regional Teams have submitted proposals for funding. These proposals will be reviewed and teams set up by mid-2012.

The TOA-MD model will be used to carry out analysis of climate change impact and adaptation. For more information, go to the AgMIP web site http://agmip.org.
